Iver wins Norwegian Railway Directorate procurement process

25 August 2022 / Press release

Iver has signed an agreement with the Norwegian Railway Directorate to provide network and Azure operating services, and associated consultancy services. The agreement has a three-year term with an option to extend by 1+1+1 years.

Iver has signed an agreement with the Norwegian Railway Directorate, whose mandate is to develop the Norwegian railway network as part of the overall transport system, today and tomorrow. The Directorate is tasked with ensuring that the railway sector is run with optimal efficiency, safety, and eco-friendliness, to the benefit of the passengers, the freight sector, and society as a whole. The Norwegian Railway Directorate shall also define and order services in the areas of infrastructure, passenger traffic, and rolling stock.

The Norwegian Railway Directorate’s IT solutions are completely cloud-based, and their IT platforms shall ensure efficiency and flexibility and be continuously adapted in line with modern working processes. Iver’s service provision package includes both the operation and management of the Norwegian Railway Directorate’s Azure platform, comprising IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, and the operation of local networks, security and consultancy services. Iver shall, furthermore, advise on the development and optimisation of cloud services, system architecture, and data platforms.

The Norwegian Railway Directorate handles the operation of customer and support services internally, and Iver will engage in a close dialogue with the Directorate’s personnel, in order to ensure the best possible user experience for the Directorate’s employees.

“It’s very important to us that we continuously improve and develop the railways to meet society’s requirement for transport services, today and tomorrow. A secure, stable, and efficient IT infrastructure is vital to achieving our goals and we are dependent on having an IT partner whom we trust and who understands our needs. Iver demonstrated, throughout the procurement process, that they have the expertise and quality that we rely on, and we are looking forward to working with them going forward,” says Hege Høiland at the Norwegian Railway Directorate.

“We are, of course, very pleased to have won the Norwegian Railway Directorate’s procurement process. The Directorate is currently in a developmental phase and will be undergoing additional modernisation. Iver has extensive experience of the transport sector, and we are looking forward to an exciting and close partnership with the Norwegian Railway Directorate,” says Magne Solberg, EVP Enterprise, at Iver.
